Career stories, Estonia

Stella is a highly educated professional with a degree from Estonian Academy of Arts. She has a really interesting history with Mercedes-Benz that goes beyond her career at Veho.

What is your first memory of Mercedes-Benz brand?

My first memory, as for all in my generation in Estonia, must be Onu Bella’s song “Ma võtsin viina”. That song and music video, that included Mercedes-Benz W123, made a clear statement in the 90s and showed what is the true luxury in life that for most of the people was untouchable. His next song and music video “Mu sõber Fiat” showed what isn’t luxury, but for many was very reachable.

My second encounter with Mercedes-Benz brand was 15 years later in Advanced Design Studio in Como. Somehow, I ended up there designing Mercedes-Benz concept cars. I didn’t have any previous experience with cars other than they have four wheels. Working there made me fall in love with the brand. Then I moved on to Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen Design house in Germany and worked with several other models already in production.

Which Mercedes-Benz model’s design do you like the best?

I like cars with personality and with a recognizable shape. So definitely not the SUVs. But I have a personal thing for SLK (2012-). I took a road trip with it from Basel to Como, roof down, through the mountains, Metallica’s SM playing, it’s hard to get more epic than that.

What inspires you?

Interesting people and good dark humor.

What is your favorite part of working at Veho?

Veho Baltics OÜ Marketing team. Best colleagues I have ever had (interesting people and good dark humor).

What is the greatest achievement in your career so far?

I can’t say that I have one greatest achievement, it’s more like an interesting road that I have taken so far. As I have worked in many different positions, the one I loved the most was a professor position in Estonian Academy of Arts. I found out that working with students takes a lot but also gives back a ton.
